The August episode of the Startup Huddle monthly session was held on Friday, the 25th August 2023. Two guest entrepreneurs were invited with a host of audience in the entrepreneurial community.
Modou Lamin Sowe, an expert in investment & entrepreneurship and Haddy Njie, founder of Haddy’s Clothing corner were the guest speakers.
As Basiru Drammeh, The Hub Manager moderated the sessions, the guests took us through their entrepreneurial journeys and shared motivational words to the attendees.
Haddy Njie is the founder of Haddy’s Clothing corner, a business that deals with selling and sewing fabrics and bed sheets. The business has been in operation for five years and a heritance from her mother who was engaged into general merchandise.
She said the business was formed after receiving a grant and with the help of her parents.
Haddy stressed the need to be always honest with your customers in order to retain them.
‘Show your employees that they are part of the business. Trusting them encourages them to respect and help your business grow’. Haddy Njie said while saying that as a student she can't always be at her work place, thus important to make her employees take responsibility for the business.
Modou Lamin Sowe is the Director of Investment promotion and facilitation at GIEPA, and an expert in investment & entrepreneurship.
As an expert in investment, he advised the attendees to always contextualize their ideas and know their strengths before going in for grants or entrepreneurship.

He advised them to always make commitments in being financially disciplined and add value to whatever they are engaged in.
